I am John S. Lewandowski, President/ CEO of the Disabled Veterans Committee on Housing, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, also I am 100% disabled veteran with loss of use of lower extremities due to a service connected injury. I like many of you when confronted with my injury didn’t know where to turn and it became almost impossible for me to get around my home, so I had to turn to outside help in this matter. Boy, little did I know how expenses and how time consuming it became; it took over 2 years just to get a contractor that didn’t want to take an arm and a leg for their work.

I checked through the Department of Veterans Affairs to see if they had assistance and found that they have a special program for veterans with specific categories of injuries due to service connected injury or illness. I found that if I was eligible I could have a home built for me and my family. The categories are as follows:

  • Debilitating injury such as loss of or loss of use of lower extremities
  • Loss of or loss of use of upper extremities (paraplegic and quadriplegic)
  • Severe burns over greater than 70% of their bodies
  • Blindness
  • TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury)
  • ALS and many more..

I said that there should be an easier way for us veterans to eliminate all this hassle, so I started an agency that can setup a “One Stop Shop” called Disabled Veterans Committee on Housing. Our Board of Director’s is made up of Disabled veterans like ourselves and we have made the work of getting your home either remodeled or a newly accessible and affordable home built to your specification…

The service that I provide does not cost you one red cent. The service is FREE. No I am not a rich man or a lottery winner. I am one of you, a veteran, and that’s why I do it. I have organizations and companies that I have checked out and have found them to meet all the qualifications that are needed for the type of work that we have to do for you. They include the following:

  • Real Estate Agents/Certified Home Counselors and Funding Institutions
  • Financial Institutions that handle all the matters of financing your project
  • Builder(s) approved by the Veterans Affair Special Adapted Housing Section (This is extremely important as they know the proper housing requirements)
  • Administrative Staff to take care of all the paperwork that is involved with a service of this type.
  • The local Department of Veterans Affair medical facility to schedule a home visit to see what medical equipment VA can supply to the veteran, at NO COST TO THEM

I will not do anything for you until you are ready. When ready, the members of my Committee will sit down with you and discuss the options that we can provide to you and your family. If you feel we can assist you with getting your INDEPENDENCE then call me or anyone listed below depending on your area, and the Committee will be glad to come to you and explain our program.

It’s now up to you, here are the numbers you can contact:
