Dear DVCH Members, Supporters and Friends:

Please help us continue our important work during these difficult times!

Veterans Memorial Walk, O'Fallon, Missouri

Each and every day of your lives are full of things that disabled veteran’s watch others that we once did and can no longer do because of the injuries that we sustained while serving our country. For many disabled vets isolation and the limited availability of services to improve quality of life ignites a sense of hopelessness and despair in us and many of us feel forgotten, useless in the lives of our families and our communities.

The Disabled Veterans Committee on Housing (DVCH) – a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization is working every day to implement the “Accessible & Affordable Homes for Disabled Veterans” program. Under the “One-Stop-Shop” program the DVCH is providing veterans with the assistance they need to successfully complete all of the steps in the new home construction process. The DVCH team is headed by disabled veterans who have the experience to make affordable, accessible housing an achievable goal for our service men and women.

To achieve our mission, the Committee has launched the “Help a disabled veteran through Accessible housing” campaign to raise $1,000,000 to support our outreach and housing counseling services program ($25,000) and to establish a construction fund ($975,000) to pay for the building of accessible homes. We are asking veterans and other organizations to request that their members contribute little as a $1 each to the campaign.  Just think, a cup of coffee that you pay while you are out or a pack of cigarettes for those who smoke, or for those a liquid beverage with lunch can help a veteran get into a home that he could not afford due to his medical condition.  This small contribution amounts to less than one cup of coffee and will go a long way to help our disabled veterans.

I want to assure you that the construction fund will be replenished as each time a veteran completes his or her new home and obtains permanent financing. The generous contributions from your organization are tax deductible. The $1,000,000 fund will allow the DVCH to respond to the housing needs of more than 100 veterans with severe disabilities living throughout Virginia.

I found that it was one thing to dream and quite another to successfully complete all of the steps (financing, lot selection, home design, acquisition of grants, etc.) in the new home building process. At one point, I considered giving up on having a new home as it became clear I did not have the expertise, experience, business and government relationships, etc. needed to see this process through to a successful conclusion.

With success in moving forward on my new accessible & affordable homes for the disabled, I realized that it was CRITICAL to reach many more disabled veterans to convince them, that, in fact, they could obtain the housing that fully responded to their needs. Please help us to assist the veterans who have given so much to protect our precious way of life by making a donation today.

We will have PayPal up and running soon that you can make your donation directly into the account, or you can mail your donation to the following address and all your money goes to help our veterans.
