A Story of “True Spirit of Christmas”

WINCHESTER, VIRGINIA (December 23, 2009) – Each and every year we celebrate the spirit and the Season of Christmas, but there are some people that go unrecognized with most of us, but they are there each and every day for us to keep us informed about what goes on in our area and the world, and that is the Television and Newspaper personnel giving us all the news good or bad. Well, I wanted to tell all of you a little different side of them, as you see we had a function at our Disabled Veterans Committee on Housing Office/Home and one of the local newspapers came to cover the story about the event, as we were distribution gifts to the veterans in our area and surprising two families.
Well we have a cat, name Louie Louie he likes to go outside and then comes back in like most cats do, well with the recent snow storm that came to Winchester, since I live by the mountains we had an extra helping (28 inches) and it’s still pretty thick in most areas, so we didn’t want our cat to get stuck in a snow pile and of course maybe not return at all, so we ask that everyone to keep a eye out for the cat when they went in and out of the home. Well, the cat outsmarted all of us and got out of the house, and two of our guest went out into the snow and got the cat before he was able to get too far away, and of course he was caught in the snow even though cats can jump. They didn’t really need to but they did and the cat was brought back to the safety of his home.
It was a side of the newspaper people that we do not think about and they showed me and all of the guests that they do really care and I wanted all of our readers to know that a certain reporter from the Northern Virginia Daily and a sweet young lady showed what I call the “True Spirit of Christmas” by caring about our feline friends, and wanted to tell our readers what we thought about it here at the Disabled Veterans Committee on Housing. So thank you from all animal lovers everywhere.
